Summer Safety: Protecting Your Dog from San Diego Wildlife

Summer means more outdoor adventures, but it also brings encounters with local wildlife. Keep your dog safe with these tips to avoid any unexpected run-ins. We have seen coyotes on walks and with the recent developments happening all over the area, they are being pushed out of their dens into urban areas.

Tips:

Wildlife Encounters: San Diego’s wildlife is as diverse as our landscapes. From coyotes in East County to skunks in the suburbs, keep your dog leashed and close to avoid surprises. As stated above coyotes are on the move and have been spotted all over SD.

Flea and Tick Prevention: Check for fleas and ticks, especially after a romp through the grass at Mission Bay or hiking the trails of Torrey Pines. A little prevention goes a long way!

Health Checks: After any wildlife encounters, inspect your dog for bites or stings. If anything looks off, consult your vet to keep those tail wags going.
